A close-up, photographic view of a neatly organized assessment workspace for impaired driving evaluations, with no people present. On a smooth oak desk sit a blank clipboard with crisp white forms turned slightly away to avoid legible text, a capped navy-blue pen, and a digital tablet displaying a softly blurred chart. A small potted plant with deep green leaves and a simple sand-textured ceramic mug add warmth. Soft overhead lighting combines with diffused window light, casting gentle shadows and subtle highlights on the paper edges. Shot from a slightly elevated angle with shallow depth of field, the mood is calm, orderly, and reassuring, conveying a structured, NYS-compliant clinical process that feels approachable rather than intimidating.

About

With more than 35 years of experience as a Clinical Social Worker, Andrew O’Grady, LCSW-R, has dedicated his career to helping individuals, families, and communities improve their mental health, overcome challenges, and build healthier, more fulfilling lives. As the founder and CEO of O’Grady Psychotherapy Associates, Andrew brings extensive clinical expertise, compassionate care, and a practical approach to assessment and treatment.

For the past 10 years, Andrew has specialized in conducting New York State OASAS Impaired Driving Assessments for individuals charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and related offenses. His goal during every assessment is to objectively evaluate whether a client has a substance use disorder or would benefit from substance use treatment following a DWI-related incident. These evaluations are conducted professionally, respectfully, and in accordance with OASAS standards.

A key component of Andrew’s approach is the use of Motivational Interviewing, an evidence-based counseling method that helps individuals explore their behaviors, identify personal goals, and strengthen their motivation for positive change. When treatment is recommended, clients are supported in understanding their options and developing a plan that promotes long-term health and success.
